Totoro Cake & Soot Sprites Cake Pops
The latest cake down at the Inn is a Totoro Cake. I had no idea what that was until I did a quick search and found that he is a raccoon dog. He is from a cartoon movie called My Neighbor Totoro. I haven't had a chance to watch the movie just yet but now I want to.
The cake is just a 12 inch round and a 10 inch round cut to the shape of his body. Under the icing is just red velvet cake. So yummy! I really enjoyed eating the pieces of cake that I didn't use. I also made some Soot Sprites Cake Pops. Those are so cute! Those are just dipped in black candy melts and black sugar sprinkles with little candy eyes attached. All toped off with a white ribbon and a 'Happy Birthday' tag! |

Frozen Castle Cake
Today's cake was FROZEN! A Frozen Castle Cake! It was just a simple 2 tier, white cake with strawberry filling. Iced in a beautiful sky blue icing. I loved the color of this cake. So pretty and fun for any little girl.
Then I just 'glued' on the plastic castle towers using candy melts. All the little elements of the castle, the door, windows and towers, are all plastic.
And look who joined us on the cake! It's Anna, Elsa and little Olaf. This was such a fun cake. All castle cakes are fun, and bring a magical element to the birthday celebration.
These cakes bring out the princess in any girl, including myself.

San Antonio Spurs Cake
This weekend's cake was for my son, A. Who celebrated his sixth birthday. He loves basketball and had been putting in his order for a Spurs cake for some time already. So rather that going out to buy his cake I made him one.
It was a last minute cake that turned out just perfect. It was just a white cake with strawberry filling. I iced it with buttercream icing that was colored grey. It was topped off with the Spurs logo and the words "Happy Birthday Aiden" written on it.
He loved it and so did I. I didn't want to cut into it. But a beautiful cake has to be eaten and enjoyed.

Dr. Seuss Cake & Smash Cake
This Weekend's cake theme was... Dr. Seuss!
This was my first Dr. Seuss cake and it was so much fun. This is the type of theme you just run with. It is so colorful and fun. Any little boy or little girl would love it.
So this cake was a 3 tier, chocolate cake with a cream cheese filling. It's a very delicious cake. I'll be sharing the cream cheese filling recipe with you later. And I never share my recipes but this one is just way too yummy not to. Now, back to the cake. It is decorated all with buttercream icing, which I cake from scratch. The cake is topped with two "Thing 1 & Thing 2" cupcakes.
And I also made a smash cake. For those that don't know what a smash cake is, it is a small cake made just for the birthday child to pretty much smash into. Very fun for the little one and great for getting a good birthday picture. This smash cake was made too look like The Cat in The Hat's red and white hat. It was made of strawberry cake with a strawberry filling. And again topped with two cupcakes.
